ciwah is short for comp.infosystems.www.authoring.html, a Usenet newsgroup where reasoned discussions about HTML authoring take place between erudite and articulate adults with a ready wit and a tolerance of other's views that will probably result in canonisation.
Wrong. That's the description of ciwah.parallel-universe.
ciwah is where we
<person>Abigail</person> tell us for the hundredth
time that no one's going to force her to accept a cookie
(good choice, having already consumed most of the
fruitcake.)Attempting to remain aloof from the hurly-burly of off-topic discussions is all very noble, but loofing is not half as much fun as letting someone know that you're sick of their rude or myth-dredging, misinformative posts. You can do that by plonking them.
*plonk* is the sound made by someone's name hitting the bottom of your killfile, meaning that any future posts from them will be passed from inbox to bin without you seeing them. If you believe that anyone else cares that you've done this, you can post a followup to the newsgroup containing the word *plonk*. After a few years of deleting contributors you can expect to have pruned your Usenet reading down to just those posts which most clearly encapsulate all the pearls of wisdom the human race will ever need. (Of course, those posts can be found in your outbox.)
